A Not-For-Profit Water Filtration Empowerment Group

Over 200 million hours is spent looking for clean drinking water every day. We believe this to be a waste of human potential. Access to clean water should not be an uncertain struggle. We Make Impact turns every $20 into an Empowerment Package which includes 1 Filter Fountain (eliminating 98.7% of bacteria) and access to the skills, tools, and resources to build filters for sale in the community & break out of the poverty cycle. In our Uganda pilot, selling 3-10 Filtration Packages per day represents 3-26x the average Ugandan income.

Liver Enzyme Gender Disparities

Many medical protocols and standards were designed with a narrow patient cohort in mind: white men. Through research, we are finding that men and women often report significantly different liver enzyme levels. Liver enzymes serve as a threshold for additional testing (and contribute to diagnosis of many diseases as an affordable blood biomarker). Thus, it is important that we consider refining these thresholds to make them relevant to more people. This publication suggests gender-specific screening thresholds for fibroscan to better gage liver scarring and steatosis (fatty build up).
